Fine art portraits & images
I specialise in fine art portraiture. Horses, dogs, humans. The Artists Support Pledge has been a wonderful thing during the pandemic, with artists supporting artists and time to develop creative ideas. Scroll on down. I’ve been working on landscapes (Insta) and more seasonally, mushrooms portraits. Long walks in the woods with my penknife and afternoons back in the studio making ‘shroom portraits and spore prints. See the ‘Shroom gallery below.

The Double Exposure Gallery
The Double Exposure Gallery below was inspired by the Cameleers of Pushkar. I wanted to understand more about their rapidly changing lifestyles and the community responses to changes in tradition. They used to have weaving communities weave their wool, now they buy it in ready-made. A shawl that lasted a lifetime now falls apart after a few seasons, made on a machine mill elsewhere. Turban fabrics are printed by mechanised process, not by eye or hand. I put together a research trip to Kutch in Gujarat, NW India, and the images in the lower gallery are my photographic response to the complicated resist block printers, and the other handmade textiles, created by the artisan printers, embroiderers and tie-dyers of Kutch. November 2021 we’re aiming for a tour to Kutch to see these textiles in person and meet the weavers with a local NGO engagement.
